Aspalathus, which theophrastos listed as a plant suitable for making perfumes, has a sweet smell. Pliny, on the other hand, tells us that the root of aspalathus is red and hard, it is used to make perfumes. Aspalathus grows in Africa and some Middle Eastern countries, but has different names depending on the geography in which it is found. We see this plant on the walls of temples in ancient times, this reveals the value that people of that time attached to this plant.
