Fenugreek, which means 'Hellenic grass', was given this name because it was used by the Hellenes. Having an aromatic root, the plant was also used in perfumes, cooking and medicine in Ancient Times. We first read about the smell of fenugreek and its use in making perfumes from Pliny, and then -from Theophrastus.
